Eric had the dream to open a guest house close to Mont Ventoux and first discovered l’Ermitage in 2011 by chance when exercising his passions of cycling.
In Spring of 2015, Eric introduced Ildiko to his beloved Provence and showed her this special house which deserved a good renovation but was just perfect in his eyes. She was equally impressed and so started new discussions with the previous owner, that reached a happy end in Autumn 2018. The work started in January 2019 and was completed in 2021…
Ermitage was opened in stages and since 2021 we offer 2 gites (“The Cottage”, and “The Lavender Gite”), 2 double rooms (East Room and Green Tomatoes) and 2 suites “The Glycine” (family suite of 2 large double rooms and a bathroom) and “Tour Carrée (large suite of 35 sqm including 2 bedrooms that can be rented with Green tomatoes to form a large family space).
L’Ermitage is situated just below the historic classified village of Crestet with its medieval streets and stunning views from the old castle. The village is 5kms from Vaison-la-Romaine. This is a wonderful little town with a delightful Provencal market each Tuesday morning and boasts impressive ancient Roman ruins well worth a visit, along with some very nice restaurants.
The house itself was originally a farm and hosted some silk production (called “magnanerie”). Now it is our home and we welcome you to it.

Eric is a straightforward, passionate and selfless person and is delighted to share with you a moment of life in the heart of Provence.
Ildiko was born and raised in Northern Ireland to an Irish mother and a Hungarian father. It was in this context she developed her love for nature, growing up with lots of animals and open green fields and with a strongly international flavour.
In both, you will find warm hosts, always happy to share stories with you and doing their best to ensure a relaxed and comfortable stay and share their love for Ermitage.
